File this under things that were bound to eventually happen: New Jersey’s Italian residents don’t love MTV’s Jersey Shore quite as much as the rest of us.
The AP reports the New Jersey Italian American Legislative Caucus is up in arms, claiming “the show promotes derogatory ethnic stereotypes” and is “wildly offensive.” Nooooo! Snooki, Mike “The Siutation“ and Pauly D are like the best things that ever happened to television!
But apparently, caucus chairman Joseph Vitale doesn’t agree. He even sent a letter to Viacom, MTV’s parent company, asking that “the show be immediately taken off the air.” The group has even asked advertisers to boycott the show … but we doubt that will happen. Jersey Shore is AXE Body Spray’s dream!!
MTV has said in the past that it doesn’t intend “to stereotype or offend” … and we believe them. It’s not like MTV invented the Jersey Shore. It’s REALLY like that there! Plus, the producer is a guy named Tony DiSanto … just sayin’.
