The Aerosmith frontman is treating his painkiller addiction.
Steven Tyler is heading back into rehab, this time to kick his addiction to prescription painkillers. Steven has suffered many injuries during his long career with the band, and has relied on the medication to get him back in performing shape. “I love Aerosmith; I love performing as the lead singer in Aerosmith,” Steven said in a statement yesterday. “I am grateful for all of the support and love I am receiving and am committed to getting things taken care of.”
This is Steven’s second stint in rehab in two years, having checked in last year to recover after undergoing several separate foot surgeries. Aerosmith also had to cancel its summer tour in August 2009 after Steven broke his shoulder during a performance in South Dakota.
It’s encouraging to see celebrities taking responsibility for their addictions and seeking help. As we discussed yesterday, pain killers are highly addictive and extremely dangerous. Get better soon, Steven!
