Brittany Murphy’s BFF says he’s going to honor his friend by being there for her husband.

Simon Monjack, we know you have Brittany’s mom, Sharon, to get you through this horrible time, but you also have one her besties, actor Eric Balfour in your corner. The former 24 star tells HollywoodLife.com that, despite the negative press Brittany and Simon’s relationship has been getting, “I supported her marriage. There’s no easy way through this and I can’t imagine what he’s going through.”

He says that the family is still trying to cope with news that they’ve lost their beloved daughter, wife and friend.

“Everyone’s devastated. Everyone’s in shock,” Eric, 32, tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “It’s a tragedy … life is fragile.”

Eric — a fellow actor who’s known Brittany since they were both 14 years old, even forming the band Blessed Soul in the early ’90s with her — says he’s now focusing on making sure “we take care of [Brittany’s mom] Sharon and [her husband] Simon and [also] honor Brittany as best as we can.”

He did just that hours after news of Brittany’s death broke, tweeting that “she was like a sister to me. I will miss her and love her always.” — Wynter Mitchell
