How would you feel if an old friend of yours just dropped dead suddenly and mysteriously?
Alicia Silverstone feels that way about Brittany Murphy–the two both became stars
after becoming instant stars when they appeared in the classic coming-of-age comedy Clueless in 1995 at ages 24 and 23 years old, respectively.
“I’m so saddened to hear this news,” Silverstone told People.com. “I loved working with Brittany. She was so talented, so warm, and so sweet.”
They “didn’t stay in close touch over the years,” however working on that movie at such a critical time in both of their careers, the two are often linked together. Who could forget either of their characters–Alicia‘s pitch-perfect Cher, the ultimate ditzy popular girl with a heart of gold, and Brittany‘s Tai, the awkward new girl who Cher befriends.
“I feel love in my heart for her – and hope she is at peace. This is truly sad,” said Alicia.
