If you need to patch things up with someone in your life, now’s the time to do it!
Tori and Candy Spelling, we’re so glad you two have finally reconciled … especially just in time for the holidays. Completely restoring your relationship will take some time, but you’re definitely on the right path!
“We all would like to feel like we can make amends,” Dr. LeslieBeth Wish, a psychologist and licensed social worker, tells HollywoodLife.com. “That way we aren’t walking around with that hole in our soul. Grudges keep you in a state of loss and anger at the same time.”
So why is it beneficial for two feuding family members to patch things up at this particular time of year?
“Each holiday and family tradition is a brick that you use to build your emotional house,” explains Wish. “The time you spend together or whenever another person enters the family — like a newborn or child — that brings people closer together.”
How can they make sure this reconciliation lasts and isn’t just a temporary quick fix? The mother-daughter duo will have to keep in touch throughout the year and not just X-mas time. “Don’t put all your hopes up in the holiday,” advises our expert. “Continue reconnecting by sending anniversary cards, birthday cards, pictures of home … you need to make that genuine connection.”
At least you ladies don’t need to buy one another tangible presents — a loving relationship really is the best gift.
