Courteney, we think it’s about time you were finally nominated for a Golden Globe — and apparently, you agree with us!
We’re not sure how it’s possible, but Courteney Cox has been in the biz for 25 years and never been nominated for a Golden Globe…until now. So it’s only natural that Court would compare herself to another woman who’s been around forever and never been praised for her craft: Susan Lucci!
“How do you know that I’ve been calling myself [Susan Lucci]?” Courteney giggled to HollywoodLife.com at a Save Darfur event at hubby David’s Propr boutique in Venice, Calif. Dec. 17.
The star, who was FINALLY nominated as a best actress for her role as quirky, sexy cougar Julie Cobb in ABC’s hit comedy Cougartown, says she was shocked by the nod. “No way [did I expect it]. I’ve been NOT nominated for so many years. It feels like utter joy. Like ‘ahhhhh!’ It’s so exciting. It’s kind of surreal.”
But although she’s now a Golden Globe nominee, Courteney insists she’s just a normal wife and mother and that she hasn’t even had time to celebrate her awesome accomplishment yet.
“I haven’t really celebrated just yet,” she confessed. “David made me a nice meal – I mean, it was just a salad.”
Courteney has been accepting congratulatory gifts by the boatload, but the best comes from her Cougartown co-star Busy Phillips. “I bought her a present,” Busy told us. “Two huge jugs of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing, ‘cuz it’s here favorite. She’s getting beautiful flowers and fancy things and I bought her some ranch dressing. Just to keep her grounded.”
We don’t think that’s going to be a problem…Congrats again on your success, Courteney!
