Baby Update: Duggar Child #19 Is “Doing Well”

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, we’re so glad to hear your newborn is getting better!

Even though little Josie Brooklyn is still in the hospital, mom Michelle Duggar says her daughter is “doing as well as can be for a baby at her age. We are taking each hour as it comes,” People reports.

The Duggars, stars of TLC’s 18 Kids and Counting, got an early Christmas present this year when Josie, the family’s 19th child, arrived earlier than expected.

Weighing in at only 1 lb., 6 oz., doctors wanted to monitor her health, and, unfortunately, Josie wasn’t able to come home from the hospital right away.  The youngest Duggar was reportedly born prematurely because Michelle suffered from preeclampsia, a rare condition during pregnancy that causes high blood pressure.

While Jim Bob acknowledges what they’re going through “is so difficult,” he says they’re getting coping by leaning on their faith. “Our children’s spiritual maturity is going to deepen so much through this, in a way that couldn’t happen any other way,” he told People.

We send our best wishes to Josie and the entire Duggar family!
