It appears it’s only a matter of weeks — perhaps even days — before Elin Nordegren will file for divorce from her husband, Tiger Woods. And Tiger may even be happy about that!
But first, the latest news on the Tiger-Elin domestic battle
- A divorce between Tiger and Elin is “100 percent on,” according to an ABCNews.com source close to Elin. What’s more, Elin’s going to play hardball: “She’s not rushing to divorce, however. She’s going to take her sweet time. She wants all the dirty laundry to be out on the table before she signs anything.”
- Another source tells MSNBC, “Elin is not going to be one of these ‘stand by her man’ women,” the source said. “She’s a strong woman, this is beyond embarrassing, and she has a daughter and son she has to think about, who will know about this one day.”
Reports have emerged that Tiger just can’t get over Rachel Uchitel, the first alleged mistress named in this sordid list of Tiger’s other women. Despite scandal, drama, and even 14 other women he’s been linked to, Rachel is the one he can’t get off his mind! Rachel is confiding to her friends that Tiger is still contacting her, according to Us Weekly. A source told the mag, “Tiger and Rachel are not over. He was texting her [recently] trying to find time to get together again. He wasn’t even fazed!” To potentially make that goal easier, Rachel has conveniently relocated herself to Palm Beach, where her mother, Susan Bishop, lives … and it’s just two hours from Tiger’s home!
Meanwhile, Elin has been huddled up with attorneys and divorce lawyers. One source tells MSNBC’s The Scoop, “Elin and Tiger are living separately now but she’ll be making this split very open and official after Christmas.” RadarOnline.com also hears that Elin has “meetings slated for next week with top legal professionals to blueprint a split that could cost Tiger as much as half of his billion dollar fortune.”
And she means business: Elin has already consulted, according to reports, with big-hitter celeb divorce attorney Sorrell Trope, who repped Britney Spears, Nicole Kidman, and Cary Grant, among many others, in their splits.
HollywoodLife.com spoke with CNN/CBS legal analyst, attorney Lisa Bloom, who gave us advice on how Elin can get the most from Tiger in a divorce:
File for divorce in the state of California
because it’s a community property state — which means Elin would be entitled to half of what Tiger has earned throughout the course of their marriage if her 10- year, 20 million dollar pre-nup was thrown out. The couple has a family home in southern California, as well as in Windermere, Fla. Because they have that home in California, Elin is entitled to file there .
Also file a lawsuit for emotional distress
aka an “IIED” — Intentional infliction of emotional distress. “If Elin can prove that what Tiger did was so extreme that it caused her emotional distress then she could get a substantial amount of money,” advises Lisa.
Ask for half of Tigers’ net worth
, recently calculated to be $700 million! “I would be asking for the sun, the moon and the stars. Elin should certainly be asking for half of what Tiger’s worth,” confesses Lisa.
Seek custody of the children.
If “Elin gets custody, that means she’ll get a very substantial amount of child support,” says Lisa. “Children are entitled to live the same lifestyle as their father in the state of California. Elin could get several million a year just in child support.”
Get your hopes up!
The state of California is very slow when it comes to granting divorces, and it doesn’t matter if you are a billionaire like Tiger Woods. Also, most states want to uphold the prenup because it’s thought to be, “a legal agreement gone into by two open eyed adults,” says Lisa.
Threaten to publicly humiliate Tiger
if he doesn’t agree to throw out the pre-nup, because that’s considered extortion and Elin could get into HUGE trouble.
