I know what you’re thinking — how does Fergie fit into the cast of Nine? With a list of actresses that included Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, and Marion Cotillard, the pop songstress seems like the odd woman out.
But if any of these stars proved they had the chops to sing, dance, and act, it was the Black Eyed Peas frontwoman!
It’s not surprising to see all the hype and buzz surrounding Nine — Pen showed off her sultry burlesque dance skills as the mistress to Guido Contini, and Cotillard, who played his tormented wife, had a gorgeous singing voice. But Fergie — who is not even a big screen veteran like her counterparts! — stole the show. It is obvious that was the one who was born to perform.
As Saraghina, a prostitute who Guido visited as a little boy, Fergie belted out the hearty and bawdy number “Be Italian” — and I was completely blown away! Fergie, you have a definite future on Broadway!
Marion Cotillard and Dame Judi Dench were also impressive in the musical film, which is based on director Roberto Fellini’s classic “8 1/2.” But while other actresses had larger roles than Fergie did, she was, by all accounts, the star!
