Woah! Angelina Jolie wrote a super harsh op-ed about President Obama!
Angelina Jolie criticized President Barack Obama’s foreign policy in an op-ed she wrote this week for Newsweek.com, in honor of Human Rights Day. The UN Goodwill Ambassador focused on Obama’s policy on the crisis in Darfur, a cause she’s been very deeply involved in. She has worked hard to raise awareness about the issue, giving speeches about it around the world and visiting the region several times.
She writes, “How is the Obama administration’s approach to Sudan an evolution of justice? In addition, when the administration says it intends to work to ‘improve the lives of the people of Darfur,’ I would like to know what that means, besides the obvious point that their lives could hardly get worse.”
Even though hubby Brad Pitt campaigned for President Obama, dad John Voight is a famous Republican, who has made many statements in the press criticizing the president. Wonder if that had anything to do with it? Here’s more of what she had to say about Darfur and the President:
–She points out that Human Rights Day was the same day President Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize, and that “we must also remember those who have been deprived of their rights.”
–Addresses the president by saying, “I also hope we will act sooner and more powerfully to prevent future atrocities.”
Recently, there have been reports that Angie “hates” the President. “She’s into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts. She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise,” US Weekly noted on Nov. 24th.
Could she be trying to get into good graces with her dad? They have been at odds for a long time, but have been working on repairing their relationship. Voight recently said, “We’re in touch, but not regularly. We love each other and that’s the most important thing.”
Maybe the fact that they both hate Obama will bring them closer together! What do YOU think–is she trying to make nice with dad?
