Taylor Swift got an early birthday gift and Christmas present: Eight nominations for the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards!
The country superstar, who turns 20 on Dec. 13, got to hear her name called out multiple times on Wednesday’s The Grammy Nominations Concert Live: Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night, including nods for song of the year, record of the year, best female pop vocal performance and the biggie … album of the year.
Think she’ll have to make some more room on her mantle? She’s already picked up a handful honors at the CMAs, AMAs, CMT Awards and MTV VMAs this year! Lucky fans who got to attend the live Grammys announcement, which was held at Club Nokia in downtown L.A., squealed as Taylor‘s name was announced. Even ex Joe Jonas was seen smiling and clapping!
Beyonce topped Taylor with 10 nominations — sure seems like the Recording Academy really loved Sasha Fierce this year — while the Black Eyed Peas, R&B crooner Maxwell and … Taylor’s nemesis, Kanye West, all received six each.
Country duo Sugarland and Maxwell (who sang a Michael Jackson tribute) treated viewers to separate performances while Nick Jonas and his band, The Administration, made tweens squeal with their debut on the hour-long program hosted by LL Cool J.
Of course, George Lopez provided the night’s laughter while introducing the Song of the Year category. “‘Use Somebody’ by Tiger Woods!” he joked when announcing that the Kings of Leon’s hit single got a nomination. For a full list of the nominees, check out the Grammy Web site.
Set your TiVo: the Grammys air live Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. on CBS. We can’t wait to find out who’ll take home those gold gramophones!
