Do You Think It's Fair To Put Someone in Jail For Taping “Twilight?”

A Chicago woman spent two nights in jail because she taped three minutes of Twilight: New Moon!

Talk about a harsh punishment! 22 year-old Samantha Tumpach spent two nights in jail and faces up to three years in prison because she was caught taping a few minutes of Twilight: New Moon with her digital camera!

Samantha told the Chicago Sun-Times on Wednesday that she was taping her sister’s surprise birthday, not Twilight. “It was a big thing over nothing,” she said. “we were just messing around. Everyone is so surprised it got this far.”

We’re shocked that the movie theater workers in Rosemont, Ill. were so mean! Samantha didn’t even get a warning. Besides, according to Samantha, much of the three minutes she taped is of family and friends singing ‘Happy Birthday.’

“You can hear me talking the whole time,” she claims. “It was never my intention to record the movie.”

What do you think? Is this totally ludicrous, or did Samantha get the punishment she deserved?
