UPDATE: Miley just issued a statement about the bus driver killed in the crash, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill “Uncle Bill” Douglas. Members of our tour are like members of our family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family in the midst of this tragedy. He will truly be missed.”
A tour bus carrying some of Miley Cyrus’ touring crew crashed early this morning, approximately 25 miles south of Richmond, Va. Miley was not on the bus, but a driver died in the crash. According to Sgt. Thomas Molnar of the Virginia State Police, there was one other injured person on the bus.
We’re told the bus that crashed was NOT the bus that Miley normally travels in. There were four buses from Miley’s tour en route to Greensboro, NC. There were ten adults on the bus that crashed. A law enforcement official tells us the bus skidded off the left shoulder of Interstate 85 South at around mile marker 55. Though it rained last night, we’re told, but the roads did not appear to be wet. The injured person was transported to Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg, Va. The crash site is 25 miles south of Richmond. The 911 call was made shortly after 8:15 EST to dispatchers, we’re told.
Miley’s next concert is this Sunday Nov. 22 in Greensboro.
